Cryotherapy – physiotherapy, therapeutic effect which is based on responses of the organism to overcooling of the outer (receptor) layer of the skin to a temperature of -2°C. This supercooling leads to tissue damage, but has a powerful irritant effect on the Central nervous system and causes a number of positive changes in the immune, endocrine, circulatory, and other systems of the body.
The procedure is effective in the treatment of diseases of the nervous system diseases of the circulatory system, immune system diseases, endocrine system diseases, rheumatic diseases.
Therapy is contraindicated in peripheral vascular disease in which the disturbed blood circulation; systemic blood diseases; hypersensitive to cold.
